Big news, during a live presentation on Twitch, the Ankama team dropped an unexpected bombshell: Waven, their tactical role-playing game, will be coming to Nintendo Switch this summer. Even better, it will leverage the latest innovations of the mysterious Switch 2. Yes, you read that right, adventurers from the World of Twelve will soon be able to take their strategic battles anywhere, whether on the bus, on vacation, or… underwater (though we advise against it).
Jokes aside, the team has been secretly working on an optimized version for Nintendo’s hybrid console, with a twist: Waven will utilize the integrated optical sensors in the Switch 2’s Joy-Con, similar to those used in mice. The “mouse” offers the same comfort as your PC, whether you’re relaxing on your couch or in bed.
“We’ve integrated a feature where you can aim spells by pointing your Joy-Con like a Cra’s bow. The sensors even detect if you’re trembling with fear in front of an angry Chacha,” jokes Tot.
The game will retain its unique aesthetic, with colorful visuals that seem tailored for the Switch’s screen. Players can choose between portable mode for quick sessions and TV mode to admire spell animations in all their glory. To celebrate this announcement, Ankama has unveiled an exclusive collector’s edition for the Switch, named “Sufokia”. This version will include a console case decorated with shimmering scales, an exclusive skin for your character (a Xélor transformed into a Pichon Kloun), and a scented game card – yes, scented – that faintly smells of moumoule and grilled tofu, assures the marketing team, without specifying whether it’s a good or bad smell.
If the excitement is at its peak, Ankama remains true to its reputation and plays the mystery card.
