In an on-camera interview shared on the Ankama Animations YouTube channel, Tot, the creative director at Ankama, provided an exclusive preview of upcoming projects for 2025. This was an opportunity to unveil a series of initiatives set to shape the year ahead.
Tot began the interview by extending New Year’s greetings to the Ankama community and expressing gratitude for the warm reception of DOFUS 3, which was released last December. One of the company’s major goals for the coming years is to release one animated series per year.
“Our ambition is to release one series a year, sometimes on platforms like France Télévisions, sometimes on ADN, or even on YouTube,” Tot explained.
This strategy aims to maintain a strong connection with fans while delivering diverse new content that will reach a broad audience. The theme for 2025 will focus on Osamodas, one of the most iconic classes in the DOFUS universe.
Osamodas: The Bestial Pact and the Mini-Series Bestial
To kick off the year with the Osamodas class, Ankama is introducing a mini-series titled Bestial. Scheduled for release in February-March, the series tells the story of Yrehn, an Osamodas determined to protect the Elante, a mythical and endangered creature. The Bestial Pact surrounding this class promises to be filled with adventure and emotion, and Tot assures that the mini-series will offer a fully immersive experience in the Osamodas universe.
The episodes will premiere on the ADN platform on February 21.
Kickstarter for WAKFU Season 5
But that’s not all. Tot also announced an exciting event for WAKFU fans: a Kickstarter campaign for Season 5, aimed at supporting this final season, with major surprises promised for fans. The campaign is set to launch next month (February 2025). This ambitious project will feature 26 episodes, and according to Tot, fans are going to love the new villain coming their way.
The production of Season 5 is still in pre-production, with activities including scriptwriting, storyboarding, and the creation of concept art and backgrounds. Although the release of Season 5 is anticipated for 2027-2028, Tot is encouraging the community to support the project to ensure it comes to fruition under the best conditions.
Annecy 2025: Three Projects to Discover
Another highlight of 2025 will take place in June with Ankama’s participation in the Annecy Festival, one of the most significant events for animation creators. Three flagship projects will be presented in preview:
- The first 10 minutes of Episode 1 of WAKFU Season 5. A key moment to catch a glimpse of this highly anticipated season.
- Welsh & Shedar, a 12-episode series created in partnership with Japan. A major project that promises an exciting international collaboration.
- Morshiken, an original and irreverent series for YouTube. This quirky series will allow Ankama to push boundaries and offer bold, surprising content. “We’ll have fun with this one,” Tot commented enthusiastically.
